Hongqi Primary School, a school for migrant children in Heiqiao Village, Chaoyang, outside the Fifth Ring of the Northeast, at 4:30 in the afternoon, the school bell rang, and the students rushed into the village's "Vitality Cube" community. Their class time is not over yet.
This is a community rebuilt from a container, which was completed in May this year. In areas where migrant workers live, the container community provides a free activity center for children who play garbage on the roadside or do homework on the roadside, allowing the children to be looked after and tutored homework after school at 3:30. , Teach some knowledge.
"Vitality Cube" community consists of 5 "container classrooms", basketball courts, "container toilets" and other hardware. The five classrooms were painted in five bright colors: green, blue, gray, red, and yellow, representing the first to fifth grades. The "Container Classroom" is equipped with a power supply device, windows are opened, and tables and chairs are neatly arranged.
After school, more than 70 migrant children will spend nearly two hours here. For the first 45 minutes to an hour, everyone completed their homework in the classroom, and volunteers provided guidance. Since then, interest classes such as handicraft, painting and music will be offered. Or the children, led by volunteers, went to the basketball court to play basketball. In the wide open space, the children played table tennis, badminton, skipping rope, kicking shuttlecock...
Heiqiao "Vitality Cube" community was created by the non-profit NGO Migrant Workers' Children Aixin Association. This love club, initiated by the American He Le, has established 6 container centers in Beijing and Shanghai, serving more than 7,000 migrant children. After the eleventh month, it will be expanded to 150 students.
